    Hi all,

Does anybody know how to remove the factory installed phone cradle stand? I can't find a phone cradle for my HTC Touch Pro so I would like to remove it an make some space for another cradle. Is there a guide somewhere that I can use?

Also would it leave holes in my dash?

    Thanks in advance!

It will leave holes in the dash. The cradle can be removed by unscrewing the face cover then removing the securing bolts

Will the bluetooth still work without the cradle? I can't get an adapter for a Blackberry Storm so was looking to remove the cradle, fill the holes with some sort of cap and then using a Blackberry car holder to hold the phone.

Your vehicle has universal prep it will allow bluetooth connection but you lose the vehicles gsm hard link so you up link to the transmitters via the phones gsm so possible poor reception between the caller and receiver.

It's true. I have bluetooth connection and am able to connect my HTC Touch Pro and use it through the Audi system. However, the downsides are that
    - the battery goes really quickly (2 to 3 hours at the most),
    - all the stuff that should sync such as contacts, call history etc. doesn't (unless you use special software),
    - it isn't as easy as placing the phone on the cradle

It would have been superb if they did manufacture more of these audi phone adapters.

I was wondering whether I have got the voice system in my audi as well. What do you think?

Yes it will work from the push to talk button

    speak a command

You can also operate the hands-free unit via the speak button on the adapter set or via an optional leather-covered multifunction steering wheel. If your vehicle is fitted with a driver information system, its display will show phone numbers and associated information held in the memory.

Push to talk button? Unfortunately I don't have the cradle but just the stand. Where else can I find this button?

My steering wheel is not the multifunctional one. However, when somebody calls me I can see the number on the dashboard. I have seen a video where somebody was controlling everything by speech, even the postcodes on the SatNav. is this the same system?

There are different specs and your vehicle appears to be the lowline version without voice control for nav etc but it should have the built in function only for phone prep.
If you retro fit multi function steering wheel and code the steering control unit plus the phone control unit it will work.
You need the steering wheel plus the loom for the controls from the steering wheel to the airbag slip ring. you may also need the steering column control unit to allow the command to be sent from the push to talk button.
I have carried this retro fit out in the past and it works. If you have rnse you can use the large control knob to dial and receive calls.
