    Hello,

After my last post we have decided on a A3 Black Edition... Problem being now is they are very hard to come by second hand.. and most being TDI's and I would prefer a Petrol... so my question is are they much different.. I always think of a Diesel car like a tractor and really loud where as the petrol is alot smoother and quieter... But I cannot find any petrol Black Editions so looks like I may have to buy new and wait till 2010 before I can get it or try and convince myself that Diesels are the way forward.... Any help please?...

    Cheers Claire

Have you asked if there are any in the pipe line or cancelled orders? Diesel is quick - The days of the tractor diesel are going.

Remember if your ordering a New car you will have to pay 17.5% VAT as delivery would be next year and you would miss the reduction.

I think if you want the Petrol get it. I have a diesel at the moment I like it even if it is a BMW. But I am looking forward to Petrol - Delivery on 6th November

the black edition models are only available on 2009 models/facelift. This got introduced in late feb/march 2009. Although orders were available at the end of DEC. The overall facelift was in SEPT 08. (so even if you pick a OCT 08 '58 car, it will be the 09' facelift)
Also try going on dealer group websites. Like sytner, colbournes, etc. Not all their stock is up on the used car section of the audi website.

I regards to petrol or diesel. Diesel engines are good these days. However it's only worth having one if your daily commute to work is 25 miles each way. Using motorways also.

where in the country are you?

    To be honest...most the 2.0 are TDI...unless you either;

    -order a new one
-go down to a 1.8...then you won't get quattro
-or order a new 2.0 s-line and spec it from there or find a 2.0 quattro with same spec.

You could always look at 1.8T or 2.0T Slines with a few extras. Widen the search maybe or does it have to be Black Edition

oneman is right. You could even pick up a heavy loaded s-line. Which would be better than the black edition.

(the black trim around the grill you can change it, or even order it as an option if you like it). The only bit i like of the black edition is the LED lights, flat steering wheel (cant be ordered as a separate option as the dealer tried when i placed the order)

I also only thought the 2.0 quttro man is only available as a diesel or a SPORTBACK or s-tronic. Unless you don't mind the transmission? So not 3-dr but 5-dr. And if you are going for the 2.0...you really are best of with the S3...perhaps a used one?
for the price of a used one you would get a heavy spec S3... (Ł27-28k) Whereas the price of a new one starts there. Also S3's are generally spec'ed out to the max, because people buy them for their 'extended range'. For a hint, look at onemanpartys tag line.
Also the only 2.0 quat man petrol is only on the s3. Although you can buy the 2.0 quat s-tronic. If you want advice on extras aswell there is myself, onemanparty and other members who can give you tips and advice on that too.

This is just out of curiosity, but most 2.0ltrs are a must have on say coupe or saloon cars. And rare as a hatchback, unless the driver really wants to floor it everywhere they drive it...like driving it like they just stole it!
So do you really need a 2.0 ltr car?

    Hi,

Ok.. the things I like about the Black Edition are the tinted windows, black piano finish interior, flat bottom steering wheel, LED lights, Black Grill and most of all the wheels.. To comprimise on the 1.8 wouldn't be a deal breaker at all. I have only just thought about the Quattro as previously had a Golf Rallye and liked the 4WD for handling... But again this isn't a deal breaker..
Im in the North West. Have a budget of around Ł23k Max as looking to go on a Finance deal.
I didn't even think about looking at the S-Line and going from there.. just thought after adding all the bits i liked from the Black Edition it would work out more expensive?.. I will have a look

    Cheers for your help!
    Claire

(I also really like the S3)
