Double din install

I've been busy and fitted a double din cage for my pioneer AVIC-D3 satnav.

All went well, removed single din cage installed double cage.
Cut center console to fit, trimmed down climate controlls to fit lower down.

The only thing is the original connector has no switched 12v. I guess it uses the CANBUS to turn the head unit on or off.

Ideally i need:

Switched 12v
Illumination (headlights on or off)
Speed pulse (helps with Satnav)

Can these be reached by tapping into wires or do i need a CANBUS adaptor?

Couple of places you can get the switched power from,

1) the fuse box - quite simple to do.
2) rear of the light switch (easiest probably to connect to.

Illumination:

1) Rear of the light swtich

Speed pulse

only possible via can bus.


I have a Canbus adapter that I don't use if you are interested in making me an offer - I have installed a Kenwood radio and so didn't need the speed pulse (not sure it would make much of a difference any way).

Send me the details of your car and I will let you know which pins to tap on the light switch - note mention if it is high or low line.
