    hi, i have a 2003 tdi sport estate. this week i noticed a slight hesitation from 1st to 2nd gear for about 2 seconds when starting from cold
    it only hesitates for that time then it's OK.

    any suggestions ? could it be that it's ready for a service in 1000 miles?

    Have you changed the injector loom yet?

    To further add to the mixing pot I'd suspect the EGR valve.

    The best advice is to get the car read for any fault codes as a starting point. If they come back clear then then I'd do the following in this order;

    1, Unplug the EGR valve vavcuum hose, plug the free end and test drive.

    2, II f that cures it then clean EGR valve (requires removal from car and cleaning out with carb cleaner, a filthy job but easily done as a DIY job). Or you could simply leave the vac hose off but a clean is benficial.

    2, If the EGR clean fails to cure then look at replacing the water temp sensor.

    3, Then look at the MAF.
