Last week we had nice sunny days.. Working in the yard and washing the cars.. This morning we wake up to snow.. One thing about here in the high country.. If you do not like the weather.. Just wait a bit it will change..

We get most of our snow and rain in the spring. The spring snow is usaly very large flakes and very wet. Mt Shasta near us is reporting 40 feet of snow with good water content on the Mt. Thats about normal for this time of year.. Should get atleast another 10 to 15 feet..

The pic on the left is me racing my 1953 356 Porsche 1500 Super.. I won many times in that old car.. This was in the early 70's in Portland Oregon.. Some one sent me the pic after the race.. I got 1st in class that day..

It changes here a bit too, Manchester weather is unbelievable. According to the temp in the car it was just a few degrees celcius last week. These last few days we are at around 17-18.

Snow though, that seems a thing of the past unless you get up in the Pennines

Well we have gone from 26 degrees and snow to sunny and 67 today.. Always great to be able to see the high mts about 50 miles away as if they were on the edge of town.. I always love it when the air is so clear..

    Sounds a great place Snowdance.

We are coming to Las Vegas then onto Palm Springs (PS seemed like a nice place to stay) later this year. Just looking at all the things to see and do. Vast country vast experiences but really great people. We cannot wait.

Those can be very warm places in the summer.. Temps up to 110 F.. But very low humidity so cooling in the evening.. Also great places to drop over and see the Grand Canyon from. A must see for every trip down into that part of the world.. If you have never been seen that part of the world you are in for a surprise at how big it really is..

While we live in California we are about 750 miles north of Palm Springs..
Far to many people down there for my liking. And way to much Smog..

If you drive 750 miles from any point on this country you'll be in the sea

I think we, the UK, really have no idea just how big the US is.

I read a lot of roadtrip threads of people driving thousands of miles a day. Try and drive for a day in this country and you'll be lucky to cover 400 miles.

I was in GB in the 50's and also was stationed in Germany.. Traveled a great deal.. Was in shock to find many countrys were smaller than our county..

My wife and I on a normal days travel will cover about 600 miles and up to 700 if in a hurry.. 500 or less is nothing.. We travel 100 miles south to do shopping or 50 miles north.. Sat. we ran over to Klamath Falls to look at some new mirrors for the car for pulling the trailer.. 200 mile trip with two Mt. Passes to cross both over 5,000 ft.. People in this county drive 250 miles to come to town.. Nothing like the compact living you do there.. You will see it were you are going.. However for us that part of Nevada and California is kind of like being in the middle of a big city..

If you can get the link to open you will see the Code of the West.. Or the things they tell those that wish to come here to live.. Its much different here as you are really on your own.. Cattle are not fenced in by the farmers but if you do not want them in your yard you must fence them out.. Cows wonder around on the roads ect.. Power goes out with storms.. Roads are not taken care of often..

Yes, gotta see the Grand Canyon. Don't think we are rude but 750 miles is a long way. Would like to visit but as Sam says that is a country to us

Sorry I did not make the Grand Canyon location more clear.. Its near where he is going.. Or about 250 miles from Las Vegas But would be less miles if they went there on their way to Palm Springs.. Also he can run it at 80 + mph nonstop except for the last 30 miles or so into the Canyon.. So about a 3 1/2 hour trip..
