Lights Left On Buzzer no longer sounds

I have a VW Passat estate (99). The alarm buzzer which sounds when you turn the ignition key off then open the door, if you leave the side lights on or the indicator on no longer sounds.

The interior light comes on OK when I open the door. The car radio turns off automatically when I remove the key.

My initial thought was that it was not a door switch/sensor issue because the interior light works. I could be wrong however.

This question has been asked a few times, and answered for 95 models (relay 36, position 9 is mentioned), but this question has not been answered for 99 models (where no such relay exists as far as I can see)

Is there a relay/buzzer combo, or is the buzzer a separate device in the control panel?

Any help locating the buzzer/relay/sensor, or advising which component is likely to be broken would be most appreciated.

check fuse 22 the buzzer is in the dash panel insert and there is no relay
