Hi, I am thinking of upgrading my dip beam on the A4 due to them being like a couple of candles! I have seen many HID upgrade kits on ebay from £27 up to £100.00 and am not sure which one to go for. I have the face lift model with the newer headlights would these kits work on my car? also what kind of bulb do I have? some listings say H7 is this right?

All the kits have the same components, 3500K bulbs, ballast, cables, all are E-marked but the more expensive ones say their kits don't interfere with the cars electrics, dazzle oncoming drivers or fail the MOT unlike the cheaper kits on ebay. Has any one any experience with any of these kits?

Any ideas or help would be great,

    Cheers, Marty.

I installed HID's on my Audi A4 1999. facelift. yes it is H7 you require and you need to make sure they don't set off the bulb out warning

i bought mine from ebay i paid about £50 for them and they are spot on. i tried to find out the supplier but it was last year and ebay doesnt keep info that long.

i think i went for the 6000k as they are the most White light. fitting was not a problem although it did involve some 'creative engineering' on the head lamp cover (the head lamps are designed for HID so you have to try and fit the ballasts and ignitors in the recesses on the bottom of the lamp housing). i had / have no problems with 'bulb out' warning light and the light they produce is much better than the candles before.

4500k is the whitest light and the type that is used with factory fitted. 6000k is the slightly blue type without reducing the visibility. the rest up to 10000K just get bluer and not so good for driving just posing

I went for a Canbus pro kit worked out to £76.00 but guarantees no bulb out problems as developed for VW Audi cars. 35w and 4300K bulbs. Will fit it next weekend and post my findings on here.
