    hey,
    new to this..

    please can someone inform me when these need replacing please?
    and roughly how much parts cost, as labour isn't a problem. thanks..

    Think the cambelt is about 60k miles I think.

    Don't know the price, but the OE Audi bits will come with a 2yr parts warranty I think. They normally do a cambelt kit which will have all the bits you might need in it. You may also need a new tensioner if your car is one of the older ones (you did not state exact age etc)

    hi john, its the 1996 model, and i would replaced everything as part of the kit, and tensioner, as i cant risk anything failing. thanks for the input

    they need replacing every 40000 to 50000 miles its not a job for a novice, make sure if you have it done they put a timing belt kit not just belt other wise it would be a waste of cash mate. it could cost you around £400 all in hope this helps

    thats great thanks a lot for letting me know. i know i can get the timing belt kit for £45 from eurocarparts, so will probably get that and get a mechanic friend to fit it, but with me helping so i get an idea. wont charge more then £100 for it. so saving myself a fair amount
