    Hi,

On my Audi A4 I pulled up the bonnet and noticed on the cover it says 5v, does that mean 5 valves - the engine in my Audi is a 1.8T

I thought it would have been 8 or 16v?? how does the 5v work??

    Regards

    Dave

    It's 5 valves per cylinder - 4 cylinders = 20 valves

20v turbo?? fair does - didnt realise it was that good.

My car A4 has done 120,000 miles but it feels a bit sluggish to be a 20v turbo...

is it 3 inlet valves and two outlet valves...

If everything is working OK it should still feel quick. Originally they had 150bhp AFAIK, but at the mileage that you have you may well have MAF or other issues, unless you have proof that the MAF has been replaced recently.

Mass Air Flow- it measures the quantity of air being drawn into the engine.

I've googled them quickly and they come back at about £130 ish...

Are they difficult to change and how can I be sure that the problem is related to the MAF.

You need to roadtest the car with a diagnostic computer to get the readings while on the move, and compare them with what they should be for that engine. If it is faulty, its simple to replace.
