i'm guessing it's the alternator belt...

about 3kmiles ago i spent about a grand on my recently acquired 2001 T4. new belts, alternator, rear springs, front and rear pads, one or two other things...

all has been good-fettle until a couple of weeks ago when the alternator belt started slipping (i guess?) for a minute or so after starting...

i've looked back through the thread archive and it seems to be a fairly common problem.

my question is this...how do i play this one? is it simply a case of going back to the garage (i trust them) for adjustment, or is that just gonna land me in the "adjusting every couple of months" scenario?

i really don't have the time to waste fannying around back and forth to the garage all the time (young family, self-employed, mother with parkinson's) and getting nowhere so i thought i would ask you lot, cos you seem like an understanding, compassionate and helpful bunch of souls.

incidentally, it's a pale blue one, very cool!
    many thanks in anticipation,
    B69 (Al)

common problem, vw changed to a multiribbed belt and pulleys about this era to solve this
the new belt your garage fitted will have stretched/settled in and if it is now adjusted should give quiet service for a while, although mine needed adjusted on a fairly regular (3 mths)interval
