    JUST WONDERING IF MY AUDI S4 CAB ON 54 PLATE IS A CAM BELT OR CHAIN AND WHEN IT NEEDS CHANGED , I HAVE READ CONFLICTING POSTS , THANKS

    Its a chain, the pic is a view an s4 owner never wants to see of his own engine! If he does his wallet will be very light.

    Chains are considered by many to be near maintenance free, ie. they never need replacing. I believe BMW recommend that their timing chain, which are made by a German company call IWIS, should be replaced every 300 000km.

    In practice, no-one replaces the chain unless it breaks.
