    Where from, how much? Thanks.
Nothing with black in it for me as it would too easily show the muck thrown up onto the ledge in filthy weather. It's far easier to sluice down a painted sill when washing the car.

Lockwood response as of 10.32 this morning was " we are desperately trying to find someone in the Leeds area to come and trial fit them on, we are just about ready apart from the final fit. There is a free set of sills for whoever can fill this need. If you have any contacts in Leeds with a Mk 6 Golf please get them to call us on 0113 2440070 to arrange a time."
    Many thanks

I would jump at the chance but 550 miles is just a tad too much
I live in Leeds, rang Lockwood and booked in for Thursday! Will take some pics and post asap.

I've just fitted a set of these. They're basically just self-adhesive plastic but they look reasonably tough. The procedure for fitting them involves spraying the sticky side, and the sill, with a weak solution of some kind of detergent (a sachet of which is supplied) which allows them to slide around and lets you position them correctly - otherwise it would be pretty impossible to just stick them straight down in the right place! You then press them down and squeeze the water out with a plastic tool (also supplied), and follow that with a blast from a hairdryer. After all that they do seem to stick well, though it is quite a fiddly business getting them aligned and adhering on all faces.

Quick update. Went to Lockwoods this morning. The template they have needs some tweaking so have made another appointment to go back on Monday. Didn't think there was much point in taking any pics until the fit is correct.

I did ask about designs and was told they will probably produce the same range as for the Mk5. I suggested they might like to consider a 'GTD' but the initial response was a bit luke warm. However, since this mornings appointment took a little longer than expected I was offered a cup of coffee and so decided to tackle the subject again. I explained that the GTD was a new model, the diesel GTi so to speak, and that I thought it would sell well. I think ultimately it'll come down to demand so keep your fingers crossed!

First impressions of the actual product - nice solid looking bit of shiny metal. The 2 Door version is not as long as it could have been had VW not put a big hole in their sill but it protects the most important area on the sill.

    He-He, good man.

Since I ordered mine, I`ve noticed 2 GTD`s driving near where I live, see them nearly every day, so there must be a few about.

Yep, a bit of an update. Was slightly more complicated than Lockwood first thought so required two further visits!

Luckily their workshop is on my way to work so I took some lieu time and eventually they got the measurements needed.

Am now waiting for a phone call to say the sills are ready for fitting. Once fitted I'll get some pics and post.

Not too much longer to wait........
