    Hi Guys,

My wifes 2005 A3 sportback (2.0 tdi) has developed a mind of its own! Wife leaves car locked and secured and returns after work to find all windows open!

This has happened twice now in the space of a couple of weeks. She is unsure if the locks were also open. She assures me its not a case of inadvertently pressing the remote fob!

Can anyone give any pointers as to where to start the investigation?

    thank you

Maybe , if you've got a 'spare' key you could get the missus to use that for one day to narrow down whether the key is at fault?

    Possible cause.
Remote accidently pressed within the range of the vehicle or water accross the terminals causing a resisitive circuit.
Easy solution, code out total window closure function

Exactly the same as my wifes 2005 Golf Mk V 2.0 GT TDI. It has happened twice - both times in the rain but several months between (most recently 2 days ago - when it became a problem not a blip)

Not sure how disabling total closure function relates to total opening problem

If you could expand on this A8 Tech that would be great.

Total closure controls the convenience function to open/close all the window via holding the key in the locked position/unlocked for 10 seconds, also pressing the remote open/close.
If you code out the function the windows will not drop and further coding to single door unlock. Its a quick fix until further investigation can be carried out but most causes are operator error or resistive circuits/door control units. This is a suggestion not a solution
