they would have hard job fitting a new slave cylinder, it doesn't have one. the thrust bearing and hydraulics are one unit.

If it's directly behind the pedal and it's hydraulic, then it is a master cylinder. I didn't realise Golf's have a hydraulic clutch, I assumed they were a cable like on the Polo (mine's a DSG).

If they have fitted a complete new clutch with bearing and a master cylinder too the only remaining (and highly unlikely) option is that the pedal is bent or dodgy in some other way. I've also had similar before when the wrong clutch was fitted but there's no chance of this at a "reputable" firm. Best bet is to go back and tell them to sort it out whatever they have done wrong.

Was the problem there before? Does it go away if you pump the pedal? Are you losing hydraulic fluid?

Yes the problem was there berfore and after new clutch kit an master cylinder fitting the pedal issue was still there. Im not loosing any fluid. Could it be an issue of poor quality fluid, they used 4 dot 1?. I have not tried to pump the pedal but its kinda like intermitted...sometimes its works normal. Most times its returns just sec later, yet it disagange gears when pedal is 90% depressed.

Ben when you have made 5 posts, can you send me the chassis number by private Message and I can look at the cars specific parts? Can you find out exactly which parts have been replaced? Preferably their part numbers if at all possible.

Guys i have had a futher look at my car and found that i have one cylinder just be hind the pedal and one attached to the box which makes it a maste ..right? Could it be that i need a new master cylinder. I plan to run out all the brake fluid to put a fresh high quality fluid be for i fit a new master cylinder since i have a new slave.

In my experience, changing the fluid is likely to make it worse as the new fluid is thinner. If you have a new slave cylinder (the one in the box) then I suggest you fit a new master cylinder and then bleed the system.
