    2006 1.9 TDI

There is no air at all coming out of the centre dash vents even with all others closed. I think it may be connected to the fact that the 4 way selector for directing the air to the windscreen, face, feet etc seems to have no effect wherever it's set and all the air is directed at the windscreen and outside dash vents all the time.

Is this a setting problem or is a fix needed? I've only had the car for 1 week, 1st Golf etc so any help would be appreciated.

    Hi

I can't help you I'm afraid with your problem, but I just wanted to add that I have a 2005 VW Golf 2.0 GT TDI with a very similar problem. My problem is intermitent but is becoming more frequent and has been going on now for approx. 18 months. My air con system works and is controllable but every so often the centre dash vent is not producing any air, either hot or cold, but I can hear the motor behind trying to do it's job. At the same time there is air coming out of the rest of the vents. I have checked and I do not have the control set for the windscreen. The problem has been checked by VW for leaks by using a coloured dye and checking the gas but all is okay and everytime it stops working and I go to take it to the garage it starts working again! I think it is probably something like a flap getting stuck but all the checks that the garage want to do are diagnostics, a gas check and checking for leaks! Has anyone else had the same problem?

I had this in my old pasat after i took the centre consul out. Turned out the brass rod that went between the selector and the airbox itself had fallen out. Don't know if the golf and passat are the same but if its the climatic you got i guess it should be similar
