Has anyone had any experience of buying a new car through one of the many onlinecar brokers eg, Broadspeed, Autoebid, Drivethedeal etc.

I am seriously considering going down that route for new Mk7.

I bought my last but one car, a Golf Plus, through Drive The Deal. Went very smoothly, good discount, no problems at all - the car came from a main dealer about 60 miles away and was delivered to the door on time. All monies were paid to the dealer - a deposit and a bank transfer on delivery. However, I subsequently realised that DTD sold/passed on my email address as I am still receiving spam from it 6 years later (it was a unique address for that transaction) - I wrote to them for an explanation but had no reply. I bought my current Golf from my local dealer - they got close to a brokers price and I figured the difference was worth it for the local support.

Carfile were excellent when I purchased my Mk6 2 years ago. All the admin was via the VW main dealer, payments via bank transfer and then delivery on a flat bed.

orange wheels very good to deal with . you pay them NOTHING, main dealer rings you so you can then get the right price if you are trading in. My orange wheels car was supplied by inchcape and was supplied by Bolton branch. couldn't fault it.

Just found a car I was thinking of buying on orange wheels and it's over £800 cheaper than my dealer is quoting.

EDIT: got the dealer to match the price
