My Golf SE 105 TDI was built last week. I have now been told that it is to be transported via Sheerness but no date has been set as yet.

I suppose it depends on when they can fill a certain number of spaces on a ship but I am impatient and was wondering whether anyone else has experience of shipping via Sheerness and the average time lapse.

Not sure how I bought a Golf - have always owned Fords and was going to the garage to buy a new Focus. Stopped off at the nearby VW dealer en route - fell in love with the Golf and never made it to the Ford garage!! I hope that I was right!

My car awaited delivery to sherness for about 3 weeks. Finally arrived to sheerness on a Monday, to the dealer on Thursday and delivery on Friday. By the time it's in sheerness you looking on about a week, hope this helps.
    It's worth the wait !

The whole process depends on total volumes, so a ship will need certain cargo, then the bigger the cargo the worse the customs clearance !.

The the transport companies take over, so if you live in an area with few and small dealerships then transport to the dealer can be longer than to a town/city with several large dealerships !

3 weeks from build to dealer is about right, sometimes its quicker !
