Just done a 1700 mile round trip for a holiday in France 850 miles 15 hours each way, even sat in the car for the crossing as I was using the tunnel and I have to say that I found the seats very comfortable, never really had any aches or pains. I personally found it quite easy to setup the seat and very happy to find that the seats had built in lumbar support as this is often extra.

Luckily we can get the seat settings right for the both of us,but most annoyingly the car has been back twice for minor niggles and the guy who comes out and drives it into the workshop seems to delight in changing every setting possible just to move it 50 yards.
Then it takes a week to sort out again.

No doubt this will happen to me, tomorrow when my car goes in to the dealers to have the Aircon problem looked at.

in recent post i said i was going from passat to fiesta. change of plan.
only found out yesterday that theres a golf 1.6tdi dsg.
i was considering new polo but its too small for me. fiesta seemed to fit the bill, until i had a few test drives. nice car, but not quite what i want.

so, back to ,''comfortable'' seat position. in all the cars ive tried this seat height adjustment goes ''up and forward '' or ''down and back''. i would like to see 'up' as in straight up, and forward and back in separate actions.

since my healths not so good, i'm looking to get the seat height adapted proffesionally to give me more room. just 2-4 inches. something like 'spacer blocks' under the seat runners with longer securing bolts, done so as not to impair the safety side of things.

i'm looking to get the golf td1 auto hopefully. got a test drive lined up.
    enough said.

Arctic Blue - that's exactly what I did. I had some spacers made up by a welder in a classic car restoration garage, to go under the front of the rails, with longer front rail bolts going through them. The guy had previously worked on adapting minibuses for disabled use, so knew a bit about crash testing and about stress loading of seat mountings.

I actually had them made for a Ford Galaxy but they fitted the Golf with minimal alteration. I used the longer bolts I'd got for the Ford, so I don't know how easy it is to get longer VW ones.

I could never get comfy in my Mk6 Golf. I'm 6' exactly. The steering wheel doesn't reach close enough to you and/or the pedals are set too close to you, so you can't get your legs properly supported while still having comfortable control over the wheel when turning "enthusiastically".

Separate controls for height and tilt of the base would be a big help.
