After two weeks the water is still beading beautifully on the paint, which I'm quite chuffed about.

Got a couple of engine issues to sort out, but are only niggles, and fortunately nobody can see them when the car is just parked!

The wheels to be honest are crud. They suit the car quite well, but they came with the older Golf and were unfortunately already quite badly curbed, but the standard wheel trims that came with this one were also s*** so changed them over anyway.

Saving for some BBS RS alloys, as that would finish the look off perfectly, as would a new registration plate.
The car looks awesome i love it

Lol, scabby number plate still exists

But I gave it a wash to get rid of all the salt last week and it still comes up beautifully.

During the wash... The o/h took it whilst I was unaware.

Big bum. Excuse the rubbish quality, was taken on my phone and didn't relised it had blurred until I put the pic on the computer.

Still wet, but was only a relatively quick wash.

Check out this spark plug though! This was new in November, but the old carburettor was still in place. New carb fitted in December, but a month with the old knackered carb left it looking like this!

Cleaned up and replaced with new ones soon after.

And finally, our nice shiney new recon Pierburg 2E2 carburettor.

    What a difference it makes!

    Hope you like.

And the reg plate is next on the list of things to do. Alloys will be refurbed as we have decided they suit the car well and BBS ones would only be suitable for summer use.

like it, except the number plate. it amazes me how shiny the paint is after all these years. they certainly built those mk11 golfs to last. imho, they are one of the best cars ever built. nice carb as well.

Well swmbo is off work tomorrow so will hopefully get a new number plate from VW in Bishops Stortford tomorrow. I know Halfords do them, but I would prefer it if it had VW on the little bit of writing (picky I know).

But yeah, the paint is fantastic. Even better than my Clio, which is 8yrs old. And my mates Fiat Brava marks even if you run your finger along it. Even our previous Golf had amazing paint, it was Jade Green, and had a few scratches, and a spot of rust on the rear arch, but when polished, the paint came up brilliantly still!

So we are dead happy with it, not a spec of rust anywhere. Done 132,000 miles too, which also shows the quality of the paint! And we have discussed, if something horrendous goes wrong with the engine, then we would definately source another engine for transplant due condition of the body.

Cheers! My Clio is my work horse though, the Golf is the one that constantly need teeny bits of tinkering. But the Golf certainly does look better on the driveway and it actually turns heads when driving down the street! Never had a car (my Dad's included) that does that!

But yea, its fab. Will get some better, more recent pics up soon.

I've had quite a few mk2's over the years, and after seeing this I want another one. I can't believe how good the car still looks after 5 months - amazing

My elbows are aching just looking at this!

Surprised you only used those products, I've spent much more time/money on cleaning my cars and not got them looking half this good. Probably woth sealing it though as the AG polish doesn't offer much protection
