    Chaps,

On the 2 B8's I have demo'd (2.0T and 2.0TDI) I have engaged the key in the dash and then pressed it again to start.

I have noticed in some pic's recently that below the handbrake switch there is a start/stop button.

Is this a MY10 thing only on some models?

Are you looking at pics of the advanced key vehicle, as opposed to the vehicles that you test drove which if they were recent models with the STOP/START function(opposite side from handbrake) as hill-hold assist is normally behind the handbrake switch?

How does the advanced key work then- do you just keep the key in your pocket and it unlocks the car when you approach it?

Does it sense the key remotely inside so you just start and stop the engine with the button?

    Sounds a cool gadget!

Exactly that. (although you need to put your foot on the clutch as you press the button)
And... its a VERY cool gadget.

It shaves valuable seconds off leaving (if you've done a bank job) as in one movement you can press the start button as you head for the seatbelt and by the time you clunk-click the car is started ready to go.

As you stop. Press the button, engine goes off, but everything stays on until you open the door to get out - then Power down. wipe the sensor on the door handle and it locks.

All too easy, i want something similar to enter my house.
