brake pad rattle

Hi

I have an audi a4 tdi, i get a rattle noise on the passenger side everytime i go over pot holes/bumps, the noise cannot be heared when i go over the pot holes when the brake is applied, i have changed the pads 3 times with good quality pads but the noise still ocours on the same side, i have also replaced the metal spring retainer clips but has not made a difference, any ideas on what else could cause the brake pad to rattle, do i need to replace the calliper?

i would either live with it
use genuine audi parts or
as you suggested inspect your carrier/calliper thoroughly
Ihad same on 2002 a4 3.0 q o/s/r
after third complete strip/clean/re fit I ended fitting genuine audi items
