I like to think that all the extra polish decreases the drag!

Although I tend to drive slower, especially when there are dirty puddles around.

Car always feels better when just fuelled up.

Well it hasn't prevented the various niggles and worse I have had but, yes, there is something psychological. Clean car, just filled up and all tyres and levels checked and inflated/topped up as appropriate. Hoovered inside of course and crap binned.

I have to disagree, i get the opposite.

'the skip' as its affectionately known is definately happiest when it has less than 1/4 of a tank of petrol, is covered in grime and is at least half full of empty crisp packets, old receipts and dead leaves.

dont know why, but it never seems to be as happy when its clean and emptied of rubbish.

A Postman mate of mine had a 1980s Astra. He called it the flying ashtray and he reckoned that, after a time, it settled at a level of squalor and never got any worse.

The paint - a mid blue popular at the time - was completely matt - like emulsion.

Annoyingly it always passed its MOT and never seemed to break down. The only servicing he did was anything indicated by the MOT plus an oil change when he took it in.

I find mine best when I've had it cleaned, inside and out, and there's about a quarter tank of fuel left. Feels just right.

I'm sure mine runs better when its clean.

It also handles better with 50 odd litres of petrol in it to push the back wheels down onto the road!
