Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of , poor fuel metering, or poor compression. The first thing you need to do is check the compression,The injector can be checked with diagnostic equipment

You will need special equipment to check, the compression,Pull off central connector for the unit injectors. remove all the glow plugs, insert the adapter V.A.G 1381/12- in place of glow plugs.check the compression with a suitable compression tester.

    Thanks

What diagnostic equipment is needed to check the injector ?

Is it worth putting injector cleaner into the fuel?

    cheers Rich

With Vag Com you can check the staus of the injectors in measured value blocks, one other thing to take into consideration is the injector wiring loom, there has been quite a few problems with them

Have you tried doing a continuity test on all of your injector wires?Check each wire from the plug on the head to the injector plug, and also check for short circuit too, across the other wires.
