    Ok im about to get a vagcom lead, are there any ones i should avoid buying? I think ill only need the basic 409 one, with this i intend to read and erase faults and reprogramme a key, will i have any issues ?

    There was a period in 98/99 when the comms with OBD was different and a Vagcom cable will not work. If you look at the connector the wider side of the moulding should have sockets in pins 2,4,5,7 and in the narrow row 10,15, and 16. If this is not the case a straight cable will not communicate at all and the correct cable/adaptor will cost you circa £260 plus vat. Regards Peter

    FFS why are these cars so bloody difficult. Where will i find the connectors Peter ?
