    Hi All

Just returned from holiday. Whilst my Golf GT TDi 2.0 170ps was sitting on my drive for 10 days, it somehow developed a fault with the No 4 injector.

The car is only 3 months out of warranty and VW want £633 to fix it!!!

I was told by a parts company that the part number is "03g 130 073m" and it appears that its made by Siemens, but cannot find any other way of buying this part from anyone but VW.

I've emailed VW to explain my disgust about this problem, but was curious to know if this is a common problem? I have already told them to go-ahead with the work as I cannot be without the car, but I would still like to find ways of getting my money back! I'm not naive enough to think that things do not go wrong with cars, but I'm led to believe this is an uncommon fault, so am I just the unlucky customer that had a dodgy one fitted???

    Any comments apreciated

    Thanks
    Jason

Did they give you the fault code? Some of the 2L 16v PD injectors are now available from Bosch for a little less but with a one year no labour warranty instead of the VAG two year labour inclusive. If the fault code was an electrical malfunction on an injector I would take a gamble and just have a head harness fitted first. I have had people come in dozens of times with VW saying it needs an injector and “Ohh we always replace the harness at the same time”. I replace the harness first and so far I have been caught out once in dozens of cases.

    Thanks Crasher.

Only the RAC gave me the codes, but they didn't know what they meant.

    I think they were 5399 and 4816???

I got the usual spill from the "Service" manager when I questioned the "just replace" attitude, telling me the mechanic that diagnosed the problem has 25 years experience etc... etc..

I've had to give the go-ahead for the work now, as I need the car back on the road, but it has really pi**ed me off how they have you over a barrell, when it comes to fixing their "own" cars!
