Rear door won't unlock

We have a 2002, 5 door Polo. One of the rear doors will not unlock using either the remote key fob or the door release switch located on the drivers door. As it won't unlock its also not possible to open the door using the handle from inside of the car so I can't removethe door card.

All of the other locks work fine using the cental locking button on both the key and the button on the drivers door.

Try thumping the door lock area whilst you work the key or remote. If this doesn't work you have to take the trim and door plate off with the door locked. That's not going to be fun.
