Hi guys. I've been having problems with the central locking A4 B5 1999 T plate 1.8T. Seems to be down to this convenience module but I cant find it. I have had the passenger seat out and had the carpet lifted right up with no sign. Took the boot apart and still no sign. Can anyone help?

theres no such thing so your going to struggle finding it
b6 + have central conveniance units (and b5.5 passats)

all b5's have a central locking pump that operates c/l, alarm, interior lights, electric windows etc...
its located in the boot on the right under the trim below rear light

the only thing under passenger seat is a crash sensor

Thanks for that. Pulled the pump out today and took cover of. Looked a bit black inside and smelled a bit burnt. Looks like that'll be the problem then

if the circuit boards black im guessing that pump runs but doesnt operate locks?
if so the graphite impeller will have shattered, they are repairable

I'll need to look into that. About a year ago I had that problem an got the impeller changed. Was working fine till a few weeks ago. The odd time the car will unlock with the door lock and if you manually open all doors they will allways lock and you can hear the pump running fine. Had problems with the interior lights aswell. They were staying on all the time and have to leave them in the off positon.

sounds like you need a new pump but try removing as much dust as possible as in theory it could cause a short somewhere so its worth a try cleaning first
