Warning Light... Help!

Hi,
I have 2002 90bhp TDi Bora with 95k on the clock. On the way home tonight the Heater Plug light on the rev counter started to flash. Ive tried to look it up in the manual bt it's suitably vague. Can anyone tell me what this means and more importantly is it serious?

OK, Checked through the forum and it seems it could be the brake lights. I've checked the car and the rear lights are out including the one on the back shelf. I'm going to try new bulbs now but if that doesn't work how difficult is the brake switch, mentioned in another post, to put in myself?

Piece of cake to fit and relatively cheap as well. When I did mine it cost about 6quid from a main dealer for the part.

The switch is above the brake pedal in the footwell. I can't remember the exact procedure (ie whether I had to take trim off etc) as it was quite some time ago and my memory is rubbish but it is simply a case of removing the exisiting switch (screws + plug) and fitting the new one.
