just in case anyone was looking at purchasing eibach springs here's a few pics of mine with them fitted. as you can see hasn't dropped it by much, they still have to settle yet as have only been on since the weekend. No problems clearing speed bumps and car feels alot tighter through the corners.

con1981, looks good. I'm about to pay for a 04 tdi highline and was wondering what a bora looked like with eibach springs fitted. Have you just replaced the springs and left the orig shocks in situ?
Also what is the ride like? I can understand the handling is sharper but what about the comfort? Has it lost alot or is it still quite soft and cushioned.
I had my old MK3 golf gti fitted with sports shocks and springs and it stuck to the road so well but it was at the expense of a comfortable ride, in the end i got fed up with the uncomforatble, crashy, noisey ride.
Im after the look you have with yours so a set of 17" or 18" vw alloys look good

    Cheers

ck999 no issue with the ride at all. With the springs being firmer you do feel the bumps abit more but the ride isn't crashy or harsh. Since taking these photo's it has settled lower. No issue though whats so ever with sleeping policeman even with a full load in the car. I've currently got 16's on mine . 18 would fill the arches out the best.

£160 for the springs. try DPM performance they seem to have the best prices. I got my local garage to price match them. Easy enough to fit yourself as long as you have got a set of spring compressors.

The back ones you need to jack both sides of the car up and detach both dampers. springs will just drop out.

Front drivers side is tricky as you don't have the clearance to remove the front shock. You need to use a suitable length of wood to jack the shock up and pull the hub away from it.

Cheers con1981, eibachs springs is probably the way i'll go. Good price too, a lot cheaper than getting a full suspension re-fit. I thought coilovers would be the way but i heard they can be just as harsh. Nice one

Cheers Stephen B that's the exact look i want, how's the drive/handle? Why didn't they give all Bora Sports etc this stance like they did with the Golfs.

Compared to stock set up, difference is night and day, obviously a bit firmer but nothing dreadful if your used to a sportier sprung motor.

No tramlining, no crashing over bumps, higher cornering ability, greater confidence when pushing on

I thought all non GTi Mk4 Golfs sat pretty high as well tbh, hence there is such a ready market for bigger alloys and lowering springs.

However the only people the stock setup would appeal to IMO are pensioners and farmers . It was far too compromised for joe public in general
