engine management light has been on for about a week ,well since i got it back from audi/vw garage to replace a cracked hose.put diagnostics on it before and got-

    3 engine faults-

17700-map controlled engine cooling thermostst-open circuit

    17544-shareware version.to decode all DTCs p1136-001-please register/activate

    17947-shareware version. to decode all DTCs p1539-004-please register/activate-intermittent readiness 0000 0001

    and ABS Brakes-
sensor for steering angle (g85)supply voltage terminal 30 35-10---intermittent.

i think the shareware code 17544 comes up as long term fuel trim, idling, bank 1 system too lean.which ive had before and changed the AMM and the problem went!!

can anyone shed any light on these??/

    much appreciated.

map controlled thermostat is the thermostat housing complete
replace part as known to fault
steering angle sensor battery was flat or disconnected
thermostat may cause the other faults

Audi replaced a split pipe in engine,so this might explain you saying battery may have been disconected(needed to take head off to get to it).will have to get them to look at thermostat when they replace the dipstick they broke.

    cheers

They should know that that code would pop up when the battery was changed and they should have cleared it.
