I just jumped ship from Mazda as my Mazda 6 had rust around all 4 wheel arches and it was only 18months old!! Common problem so keep an eye out.
    All the best.

Glad you got it resolved, I have rejected 2 cars, 6 months after delivery and 3 days after delivery. In your case I would've rejected the car immediately.

After I rejected the 2nd car, the manufacturer commented on the fact I had rejected a previous car a few years earlier!

If you've taken delivery, I know its difficult to give leave the car and keys with the dealer when you reject it, but it has to be done, then its a waiting game, better if the car is on hp, things move faster.

On the subject of paint and warranty, we have a vw polo that has a paint defect that appeared after 2 years, the warranty administrator took lots of photographs and checked paint depth on every panel, basically looking for a get out! It gets better, the administrator admitted they had the same type of defect on their mk5 golf

And the repair, £80 chipsaway bodge which has had to be repaired again after rust appeared.

Don't forget to carry spare oil and check the level once a week - those RX8s eat oil !
They eat oil, petrol and £'s generally. Isn't the annual road tax in excess of £400? And don't forget, you must not start it just to move it around your driveway otherwise those rotor tips won't last very long!

I know of a couple of people with RX8s. They both loved them but commented that they are not a car that you can just use and abuse. As people have said, the oil needs checking every week without fail and the engine does not respond well to being turned on and off whilst still cold. The bodies also flex like a convertible due to the peculiar door arrangement. Still, The only people I have met that own them have enjoyed driving them. I would have a Scirocco though.
