    Hi all,

Currently having issues with the radio signal, picks up Radio 1, Radio 2 ok (ish), however is struggling to get a good signal on the local stations.

The radio used to be able to pick up these stations no problems, (and our Golf is ok.)

Just wondering if anyone knows where the location of the radio aerial run's through the car and if there are any common areas where it fails?

    Cheers

    Rick

I will take a look and test it, however i dont think its gone as it works perfect when im not down in the valley..

If it had gone, i would of expected it to not work at all or be pretty rubbish signal, but the likes of RADIO1, RADIO2 are fine and local stations are on higher ground..

When my dad comes down next in his A4 im going to test it on his...

the thing is.. our golf works perfect!

    Hi,
Just wondering if you ever solved this problem as i`m having the same problem with mine, i can remember a time when i had no problem picking up all stations but now as you have pointed out i only get Radio 1 and Radio 2, its been like this for a year or more now would be great to have it workin as normal again, gettin fed up listening to the same old CDs.
    Regards
    Paul

Had to replace this component on my 02 B6 a few months ago. Had okay receiption on main FM channels in strong areas - nothing on AM bands - and in fringe areas not much of anything on any band.

When I took off the old amplifier to inspect - there were three cracks in the black electrical component cover (would not surprise me if strong sun-light on the back window (in Uk!!?) over time had caused to to become brittle and crack).

I got a replacement from a main dealer (around 130 pounds) - quite easy to replace - hardest part is pulling down on the roof-panel cover to get access to it. (make sure hands are clean if you have light coloured head-lining!)

Since replacing, the signal has been at least as good as a modern car with external roof ariel. Also AM receiption has been restored.

I considered replacing it with a roof ariel. However, didn't think I could get one to plug directly into the existing cable - and really did not want to route a cable all the way to the back of the radio (so many bits of trim to break on the way - trust me - 130 quid is the cheaper and quickest option!)
