Good evening. This is my first post on you forum so thank you before i start. After borrowing my wifes polo estate 1.9 tdi, 2000reg one day last week i managed to wreck the drivers side electric window regulator.Have removed the outer door card and the plastic cover. found a very sick looking piece of cable .My local garage has suggested that the regulator obtained from vw parts will be in excess of £170. plus his labour.Once i picked myself up off the floor got the courage to post and ask the forum.
1.Could anyone suggest an alternative supplier. The regulator i belive is twelve pin.and is this one also common to the seat variant /estate
2.Is the removal and replacement a task i could undertake myself.
3.Without sounding to silly, if the glass has to be removed do you remove via the top of the door? and then remove the old regulatio via the cut out in the inner door pannel?
I would be gratefull for any help or if you can direct me to where i can get som information.sorry about the spelling could not find the spellcheck.
