    Hello All,
Just dipping my VCDS toe into the water ( a little deeper).
My ABS started to flash intermittantly and now is constantly on with the STOP warning ladel.
The car is 2000 VW Passat turbo 1.8L 3B motor, my VCDS scans are not indicating any trouble codes ( perhaps this car is too early a model to throw ABS codes.
I want to ' play', no check the speed sensors and hydraulic pumps and become more familiar with the VCDS.

*** There is a test sequence that indicates Sequential / Selective.
I assume Selective is provided for the more recent models.

Further reading indicates that if Sequential is chosen the car should be of the ground so as to allow for the various tests.
    1) Why ( wheel rotation type tests ??)
    2) If the car is not off the ground, will the sequential test ( that requires the car to be raised), just indicate a fail ( as this test was unable to be completed), OR will I incur possible DAMAGE.
    Thank you as always
    Best Regards
    John

Are you sure your VAG-COM is connecting to all modules? When you run [Options][Test] do you see K1 ok and K2 ok?

Does the ABS module show up in the autoscan? It should. If not, it may be complete toast. It should be communicating with the tool. If it is not there, check the obvious - look for a blown fuse.

I would not go to all those other tests until you assured yourself that the ABS system is showing up in the Autoscan. Care to paste a copy of your autoscan here?

    Dear Bruce
I have not forgotten you, the last known scan is NOT communicating with the ABS ( not happy). I am searching for appropriate fuses to check and will post the scan ( when time permits).
The most interesting thing is, I can drive to work 25k ( light traffic and freeway conditions) and all is ok, no hint of any warnings. In the afternoon I start the car and the warning appears before I move. It is almost like a threshold battery charge condition that determines if the warning appears or not.
Not communicating with the VCDS does concern me, I am trading the car in 8-10 weeks, I really do not want big expenses now.
Best wishes and thank you for your support.
