Hi all...had my GT TDI 140 on a 55 plate for a about a year now and everything was going well until yesteday...heres the problem..

...My Boot wont open and rear wiper wont work..(guess you picked that up from the title so heres abit more info!)

When i start the car i get an error message saying that the reverse light and rear fog light is out. When u try to use the rear wiper nothing happens. The Washer jet works ok but the wiper doesnt move. If i try to open the boot with the engine running, it wont open even though i can open all th other doors. If i turn th engine off, it then allows the boot to open..the funny thing is that each time i open it with the engine off, the rear wiper decides to move a few inches up then stops.

Anyone know whats happen to my car?? I think its abit odd that the rear lights going out, and this problem happening at the same time? All help will be highly appreciated as always..! Mo

The rear washer jet fitting has probably failed and poured water onto the boot lock inside the tailgate.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've done a bit of research on the net and found a site that mentions some1 having this exact same problem. Apparently, they had to have their wiring loom replaced at a cost of ŁŁ170 (ouch!) I've got mine boooked in with VW Bradford on Tuesday so we'll soon find out. Hopefully, its just a loose wire and wont break the bank! Will make sure to update this thread with the result so it may help anyne else who may have a similar prob.

Just a quick update..Got ma car back all washed 'n' vacked from VW with a fully working rear wiper. Apparently, it was a broken wire in the wiring loom. VW being VW, charged about 60 quid just t do the diagnosis and just a tenner to fix...so it wont toO bad i suppose!
