You have the exact problem I had, I went through 3 of them PRV valves, the crankcase breather valve breaks them quite fast, as this is what will be causing the problem

My car runs like its brand new now, the crankcase breather valve is only about £15, if you can fit it yourself great, I dont think its a time consuming job, its getting to it that might be the hard work

When mine was replaced, Audi replaced the T pipe that it was connected to as they said it was very brittle.

I can give you the part numbers if you wish that I had changed

    Andy.

    Hi Andy,

That'd be great if you could send me the part numbers. Getting desperate now! Did you have the same fault code on yours? I checked out the code on VAG Wiki and the add. part of the description is to do with a fault at idle that infers a breather problem.

    Cheers,

    Mark,
Even after replacing the cracked valve, my CEL would not clear. I spent more hours unsuccessfully combing the engine compartment looking for vacuum leaks. Ultimately I took it to the dealer who found a cracked crankcase vent valve, located under the plastic cover on top of the engine. They said when this part is leaking, the oil filler cap is difficult or impossible to remove. I did not see the part that was replaced, but the car is running much better now, and the CEL has been off since it was serviced about 2 weeks ago.

    Cheers Andy,

I should be able to work it out from that. I'm taking the car to an Audi master tech to get it sorted as I also need some other bits doing. I should be able to get him to order the parts based on the info that you've given me. I reckon that the new PRV that I fitted is broken already as it's leaking air like a pair of old tights!

I'll let you know how I get on.
