Your car looks sweet on the outside and the inside!

I'm a bit confused, is that head unit made by Kenwood or Garmin? Or are Kenwood now making headunits featuring Garmin satnav?

Did you have trouble getting a facia plate to convert from the standard double-din area to the A4 console shape?

    Al.

PS: How much did the S4 door blades cost you & do you have any part numbers please? Cheers.

    Hi AL.
The head unit is a kenwood dnx 5220 and features garmin sat-nav,as far as i am aware this is no longer a current model but all the later kenwood media systems feature garmin sat nav, the tv tuner is a kenwood add on #KTC D500E, as for the facia plate that was an ebay purchase,i'll put the link for that at the bottom,i bought the complete kit but you only need the facia as the headunt comes with it's own cage and square surround,it did need to be modified slightly(just a couple of lugs filed down) but fits quite well.As for the door blades they were purchased for vagparts when they were trading but the audi part numbers are:
    Left front:8E0 853 959 C 7DL
    Right front:8EO 853 960 C 7DL
    Left rear: 8E0 853 969 D 7DL
    Right rear:8EO 853 970 7DL.
They are listed at about £60 each and are supplierd black, i woul check the part numbers as my local dealer has got part numbers wrong in the past.

If it was just to change the head unit i wouldn't bother as for some unknown reason you always loose sound quality, i only went for the kenwood as it has features that appealed to me i.e.dvd player, dual zone sound and full ipod control otherwise i would have done the rnse conversion, it has loads of sound features xovers, this that and all the rest of it, but to be honest it don't sound half as good as the chrous unit that was in it orriginally.

Cheers for all that info Matty C..

Few more questions.. did you get a local bodyshop to paint the grey lower side skirts? I don't mean the S4 blades but the grey sill under the doors.

They are shiny / slippy as standard - do you know if the bodyshop had to do any special prep before painting?

Where did you get your front valance from please, how much did it set you back and any chance of a part number?

    Thanks a mil in advance.

Hi Al, the car was already colour coded at the bottom when purchased,as for the blades as far as i know it was just a normal primer and paint job, the front valance is an s-line lower valance that was fitted to the later mpodel 54 plate it was the s-line that superseeded the sport, the cost was £150 ish from memory sorry i don't have a part number, i have included a couple of pics of how the car was when i bought it and a link to a company that do the vortex style front bumper, similar to the s-line one just a bit more aggressive.

link for front bumper: hope this helps
