    Hi all,

Just recently got the turbo changed on 2002 B5 passat.

the car is going well again, but the problem i have is that when the car has been running sometime I get quite a bit of smoke from the exhaust.

I was told that there may be some smoke as a lot of oil was dumped into the exhaust when the turbo blew but that it would burn off. (the oil was actually coming out of the exhaust at one stage)

Was wondering if there is any quicker methods of removing / cleaning the oil from the exhaust. This car is used for the school runs and not sure how the other half will feel about driving the car until it "burns off"

    TIA

the problem is that the oil will sit in the lower part of the exhaust i.e in the silencer boxes. short runs dont get the exhaust hot enough , but a long run would, but the smoke this would create would endanger other road users and attract the attention of the police. the best solution is to remove the exhaust and leave it standing up to allow the oil to drain. this will get rid of the bulk, but will still leave residue in there. the easiest option is a new exhaust, but after forking out for a turbo, i dont think you would be too happy about that suggestion.
