Hi, my first post and hoping for some wise words.

My A6 2.4 manual Avant has coverd 215,000 miles is still on the orignal clutch, catalysts and exhausts. For the last 12 months it has been mothballed after the insurers of the guy that hit me wrote it off as a Cat D economic loss.

I am now looking to get it back on the road as the accident damage was minor (needs new tailgate, bumper and some minor panel work but it passed MOT's with this damage) and I now have someone interested in it.

Before the accident I had noticed a degree of hesitation at partial throttle, this cleared at higher engine speeds and was far less noticeable if pushing the throttle hard open as opposed to being gentle. Any ideas as to cause would be welcomed.

I have cleaned the Mass Airflow Meter and this cleared up the slightly erratic idle but not the hesitation, all hoses appear intact, is it worth taking off and cleaning the throttle body and if so any tips or things to watch out for?

Two other quick things hopefully, the CD autochanger seems to have lost power but I cannot find a fuse for this, there is a DIN plug hanging down behind it so this could have fallen out but not sure how it could have but will check this first, if not this any clues?

Lastly, I get an occasional brake warning light on the dash when starting, my thoughts are dirt build up on the discs / ABS sensors after sitting and covering only 2 miles in a year, any thoughts? I will clean all the brakes thoroughly before it goes for MOT

I have regularly started the car and let it idle at different engine speeds until water and oil get to mormal temperatures . Any other things to check after an extended period at rest?

Thank you in anticipation of any responses.

    Welcome.

What year and model is your A6? Engine code would be good aswell to let us know what you need to know.

I think that if the Airflow Meter has been cleaned, it needs resetting with vagcom. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. Actually, that might be the throttle body I'm thinking of.

When did the CD changer last work? before the accident? The impact might just have knocked the plug out.

Cleaning the brake sensors would be a good idea, is it the brake warning light, or the ABS fault light?

A 1999 2.4 V6, not sure of engine code but the 125KW (165hp) version, CD was working post accident, has failed whilst parked up.

It is the brake warning not the ABS, fluid at normal levels, fairly confident it is not the pads as they were changed just a few months before and havecovered only 5000 miles.

Is the throttle body easy to remove / clean? do I need gaskets??
