I have had my 1997 T4 Transporter 1.9td (800 special) since new and it has covered only 66,000 miles.

It has had the rear springs replaced twice, the last time less about a year and a half ago.

Now the van has just failed its MOT because of a broken rear spring which is less than a year and a half old.

The van had heavy duty springs put in last time and the van never gets over loaded.

I know the springs are a poor design and tend to break at the point where the coil gets narrow after a while, but surely after a year and half is not acceptible.

The last springs fitted were KYB heavy duty.

Is there any springs on the market for T4s that are not prone to breaking in this way in such a short time???

Kenny has suggested to me that I fit ambulance spec' springs - I have the same problem with mine, although it usually runs with at least half a full load, often full & towing a trailer - it has now done some 215,000 hard miles.

Seems to be about the only weak spot on these otherwise excellent vans.

Next time mine go I'll have the ambulance ones fitted.

The only thing I can suggest is to ask at the local Parts dealer, unless someone can come up with the part number.
