How do they dare contact car owners forums when they use us as funding pigs?

This is the “appeal” that West Midlands Police have requested, along with contact detail for the Department in question are shown below:-

“As part of a major investigation, Police in the West Midlands are seeking to film a CCTV reconstruction of the movements of a black Audi A4 saloon (2006-2008) for forensic comparison. To achieve this they need to source three specific variants, an RS4, an S4 and a standard A4 (one of each) and it is hoped that members of the Forum that own these vehicles will volunteer to take part in the exercise which will take place late in the evening in Birmingham on a date convenient to all concerned. The vehicles should be of factory specification with no after-market additions. Expenses will be paid and refreshments provided. Confidentiality assured"

The contact details are as follows:-

    Andy Thompson
    Detective Sergeant 1130
    Team 4 MIU
    Chace Avenue
    Coventry

    Tel 0845 1135000 ext 79346580

    Email: a.k.thompson@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk

    Incident Room Tel 02476 539800

Get your own car to film your movie because as a law abiding citizen (OK I overtook someone a bit quick) I got a £ 300.00 fine (no offences for 20 years previous but that was not something they wanted to know about) & 6 points whilst the drug addicts in the court next to me kept running out laughing at another order to not get wrecked and attack someone in the next few weeks.

If you want public assistance I suggest you assist the public. I would have been happy with a clip around the ear (seriously, I do not speed on a regular basis and would take this as a just and swift punishment).

As it is I now detest the traffic police and the system that assists them in gaining easy conviction from usually law abiding citizens.

I have access to all makes and models of cars due to my occupation but I am a bit tied up on whatever days the cars are needed

    A strange first post.

Why do you have such a problem with the Police? Is it because you have been caught?! I wonder if you would detest the Police when you needed their help one day?

For whats its worth I think the UK Police do a fantastic job, often under very tough circumstances.

For whats its worth I think the UK Police do a fantastic job, often under very tough circumstances.

Unfortunately needing their help and actually receiving their help are worlds apart.

I don't hate the police, but I do feel that for whatever reason they pursue sources of easy "crime", predominately traffic related, and have, as a result, "criminalised" a large portion of the UK public.

It's little wonder that your average joe now has little time for them when they need our help....................

As for them doing a fantastic job? I don't know where in the country you live but I lived in the west end of "europes oil capital" and after my third break-in I wasn't even visited by our freinds in blue, only given an incident number to claim from my house insurance, and after having both my car and my motorbike vandalised I was advised that "I should expect that sort of thing living in the city".

I'm sorry, but what I expect is a police "service/force" that actually takes an interest in fighting the crime that affects the public as a whole.

    Rant over.........................

I was apprached by West Midlands Police to see if our members could help them, so I send a mass email..... In it, it stated if this does not apply to you, accept my apologies and ignore it... It was not an invite to bring this too the Forum (Wrong section anyway - now moved) and argue the toss about it.

As far as I am concerned it is now finished.... If you can't help with the content of the email, then delete the message and move on!
