Please excuse my ignorance on this matter as I don't own an ipod/MP3 player! Rather than just insert audio CDs into my car, I am aware that I can play music from other sources through the HDD MMI system. I have already found out how to play DVDs. Before I damage anything, as I do not own an MP3 player, I am assuming that I need to put my music onto an SD card and insert it into one of the SD card slots under the flap on the dashboard (alternatively, I assume that I could put my music onto a USB memory stick and attach it with the cable supplied in the glovebox). Am I correct so far? Assuming I am, how do I get music onto either an SD card or a memory stick? I have looked within Microsoft's Media Player and it looks like you can simply 'Rip' a CD. Is it as simple as that? What are the problems/pitfalls to look out for? Any help would be much appreciated.

Gone: B8 S4 in BrilliantRed with TechPackHigh, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Airbags & TPMS and also gone B8 A4 1.8TFSI SE

    You're 100% correct.

You need your PC to get the music into mp3 format and media player ripping is a really simply way to do so. This will put the files in the directory that's specified in the media players settings but is probably My Documents/My Music. You can then simply copy these files in the directories on to a USB key, an SD card or burn a CD with then on, etc etc.

Sorry, another quick question on this topic - Once I get tracks onto an SD card/memory stick, is it easy to transfer some of them onto the HDD drive of the MMI system? I understand that 10GB is reserved for music, approximately 1000 songs.

It's easy. In the Jukebox, simply select import, choose the source and then you can either bring them all in or just choose which ones you want.

It'll all make sense once you try it

Yeah - my advice here is just to 'give it a go'... don't be frightened of it, you will find it extremely hard to break it and I have little doubt that you will actually meet with great success. Then say "goodbye" to most (if not all) car-bound CDs.
    Cheers, Hippo

To ScottyUK and Hippogriff, Many thanks for your advices. I 'ripped' and then 'imported' into the MMI Jukebox one album via a memory stick last night. When that worked, I went back and transferred another 10 albums or so. Now it's just a case of going through the rest of my CDs and putting my favourite ones in the Jukebox.
