I've specced my TDi SE order with the 17" Seattle wheel option which comes with sports suspension. On another forum there were comments about harsh ride quality! So now I'm wondering whether to abandon the idea, trouble us I only have tomorrow to change the order before the spec is locked for build.

When I chose the option I was wrongly of the opinion that the GTi. Came with 18s as standard so I thought it would be firm and sporty but not too harsh for a main family car. Now I've realised 17s are the standard fir the Gti and some people who spec 18s also spec ACC to help the ride.

Comments please - STD suspension Nd 16s or the 17s with sports suspension ?

I've specced my GT with the 18" Vancouvers only because I didn't like any of the other offerings. I've not got the car yet so can't comment but whatever you get, you'll get used to it in a week or so and not know the difference.

According to this video the MK6 has better suspension than the MK5 if you wish to believe their scientific methods

I've read very different things. Some say the the ride on the 17s and 18s is hard, whilst others say it's very good.

    Personally I've spec'd 18s and I don't think it's going to be too hard.

Hi, I recommend a test drive as its a very subjective thing. I personally think the ride on my GT160 is great (better compared to the Mk5). BUT I personally like a firm ride with minimal roll.

My 2.0TDi SE has the 17" Seattle wheel option which comes with sports suspension, Ride is fine for me, actually i would say an improvement over previous MK5 on 16"s.
Looks good aswell, gotta keep em clean though !!

mine's on 17 with the sports pack and I had driven a 140 diesel with the 16s (when my car was in the shop). the 16s are softer but I wouldn't loose any sleep over my choice of the 17s as I wanted better handling.
