I know this is a long shot but here goes anyway.

Bought a secondhand front armrest for A4 saloon 2006 as it didn`t have one.I need to cut out the front console for fitting. My understanding is that when you buy an original retro kit it comes with a template to enable you to cut the console in the right place.

Been searching the internet for advice someone informs that once the cosole has been removed that the underside is already marked ?? anybody know if this is the case

Here goes has anyone got the template, or has anyone every fitted armrest in the past who had to cut the console??
    Any advice greatly appreciated

it is marked on the under side but to take it out is a pain in the a$$ u get a template in the retro kit iv done a few and just drill a small hole and use a dremel or small hacksaw blade doesnt have to be perfect as its covered over i got a template from audi parts department he was good enough to photocopy 1 they had in stock im sure theres a few knocking around the net tho

I had the same problem as my kit came from the dealers with NO template?? As it was a saturday, the dealers had closed and i wanted to play!!

I removed the rear ash tray and done some estimation work, obviously with a steel rule measuring marking it out, slightly smaller than the armrest cove plate, but about 1mm larger than the bottom of the mountin bracket.

I then drilled a series of holes and cut using a small hacksaw blade. Then used a fine file to take out the excess to the mark. Checking every so often with the base of armrest bracket opened up the hole little further untill it went thru and sat onto fixing stud.
It took me bout an hour but fitted perfect, I couldnt wait for template.

Little advise put some old rag in and around the area to catch all the plastic fillings, makes clearing up that much easier .

Sorry for delay no didnt need too, Just pushed forward the seats out of the way. If you dont feel confident wait for the template from one of our fellow members, but its not hard
