    Hi Guys,

I am one very happy new owner of a 2006 Sprint Blue RS4, but have a couple of niggles to sort out.

My glovebox multichanger works ok, however there is a loud whistling / interfrence when playing any CDs. Louder with the engine revs etc....This does not happen with the RNS-E head unit, ONLY the multichanger.

Anyone come across this problem before and know what it is ?

Got to get it sorted - very annoying.

    Thanks.

    Gareth.

This problem rings a bell..I've experienced it myself at some point...

Is it an OEM (Audi original) CD changer or an aftermarket unit (Pioneer, JVC, Sony etc)?

If it's an aftermarket changer, where is it getting its power from; the adapter that plugs into the back of the RNS-E or directly from the fusebox?

    Al.

    Hi AL,

Yes, it is OEM Audi (Panasonic on side of unit) and all the cabling is original as far as I can tell (wraped up nicely etc...). It all plugs in to the rear of the RNS-E with the correct cables, multiplug and adaptor.

I have checked all cables and it seems to be fine. May have to ite the bullett and get a specialist to look at this.

AH HA! I think I've just remember why this problem rings a bell!

I believe there should be a tiny switch somewhere on the CD changer.

I had a Panasonic CD changer in my Golf Mk.4 and when I had it replaced with an MiniDisc changer, I remember audio installer guy what the small switch was for.
I thought it was to designate the CD changer as miounted in a vertical or horizontal position.
He explained that it's actually a feature to overcome the whistling interference issue (that you are describing)!

I hope I'm not going mad! Please pop-out your CD changer and look all-over for a small switch (on the outside or possibly even within the area where you put the cartridge into - flip it over to the opposite position to the one it's currently in and see if the interferrance goes away!
