The little discs that fit flush with the bumper will be sprayed the same colour as your car. Cheapo ones will be just black plastic and also protrude slightly from the bumper.

Just got off the phone from Audi.

They said that a 3rd party would be coming in to install the system so it will not be Audi. I asked for a part number and they she said she would get this for me.

The sensors will be color coded but the system will not integrate with the MMI console.

    Sounds a bit rubbish really.

Also, she said there was a disclaimer on the website which protects them from these kind of issues. But they are willing to install it anyway.

Protecting them from misselling or advertising mistakes? One wonders which it really is - my experience of Audi is that they're not evil, but they are mostly pretty soundly incompetent... also, they usually don't give a toss. If they are trying to remedy the situation, I'd be happy-ish with that - but I think I would clarify what you lose from the factory system, detail it and ask for some small amount of compensation... maybe something in kind.

Premium car, shoddy service. My personal opinion. Still getting a new one, though... so I must think it's worth it, or I am a sucker for punishment.

At the end of the day, as long as the parking sensors are there and work, I can't imagine it's that important how it works. Not sure it integrates into the MMI (if only the rear, I mean) as I thought it was just beeps, but mebbe there's the ability to change settings?

I'd do my best to get over it - as it'll spoil your enjoyment of the car. Might be easy for me to say that (watch them stuff up my car somehow tomorrow) but I know how little things can nag at you when you expect things to be perfect.
    Cheers, Hippo

    Good advice.

I think I am going to go with what they have to offer. I really don't have the time or energy to argue with them.

You are right the important thing is I get work rear parking sensors that do not damage the look of the car.

    Good luck with your car.

Does beg the question, did you not give this car the once over before parting with your money?

I am afraid I got caught up in the awe of the new car.

I was more concerned with the new toys like AMI + Iphone + Bluetooth and did not even think about checking. But I trusted a the dealer thinking they would not advertise something that does not exist. Right?

When phoning Audi over the months to confirm specs I would be told by various salesmen that what it says on the website is what it has. I'm too trusting.

I'm not very good at buying cars.

To be fair, it's not exactly a Moroccan souk though, is it? It's not supposed to be caveat emptor all the way.

My previous car had the factory-fit rear-only parking sensors, and the only integration with the MMI was the ability to adjust the pitch of the beeps. To be honest, I never bothered changing it, as the default tone was OK. There was no dashboard button to engage or disengage the sensors - they were triggered by engaging reverse gear. I don't think you're missing much by not having MMI integration for the rear sensor system.

My current car has Parking System Plus, which also comes with front sensors and a visual display in the MMI screen. If that's what you were expecting, then you are going to be sold short by having the retro-fit rear sensors, and you should probably discuss compensation with the dealer.

    Best regards,

    MF.
