    Hi,

I recently removed my factory fitted radio cassette from my 52 plate passat tdi to fit a new aftermarket cd/mp3 player (sony cdx-gt28). Everything was straightforward using a harness adapter but I have an issue with the radio aerial.

Apparently I need a separate amplified aerial adapter (i just plugged the aerial straight into the new head unit) as I am experiencing reception loss and don't get the traffic alerts on the new player.

From what I can make out, I need to plug the blue wire into the relevant stereo pin, but all of the pins are in use from the harness adapter.

Has anyone managed to get this working correctly? Is it a case of cutting an joining the blue wires?

OK. I've figured out how to do this. It wasn't actually that hard after all (using common sense rather than trying to follow instructions)

Instead of looking at the stereo connection (which didn't have a spare blue connector), I checked the harness adapter and, hey presto, there was a spare blue cable, with a small input and a protecting piece of plastic. I moved the plastic down a bit, joined the PC5-90 blue wire to it and then moved the plastic up to cover the join. I then connected the aerial connector to the PC5-90 and then it to the stereo aerial input.

This seems to have done the trick as I get better radio reception, more channels and also traffic alerts.
