Well I ordered my new golf with some scrapage back in june and apparently they just started building it this week so will be here in a few weeks.

I currently drive a 1.8 mk3 golf driver. Will i be shocked that the car has infact not really changed?

    is the 1.6tdi sluggish (90bhp one) ?

now obviously a brand new off the factory floor car should be tuned as soon as I get it  is there the need, how can it be done without invalidating the warrenty? do VW do it?

I keep getting told that other than gentle driving you dont need a 500 mile service like in days of old, I personally dont see why not, I have built enough old engines to know why your supposed to take it gentle then change the oil and filter, vw say they dont do that?

    anything I should know?

My biggest curiosity is what actually invalidates the warrenty? I love my stereo and want to fit a sub in the boot, that is going to mean fitting an amp and running a power cable through the car. obviously it means taking off some of the interior trim panels to do it, would such a thing invalidate the warrenty?

Do vw at all have a sub as an option? as in is there somethng that can be simply plugged in or power wiring already in the car?

I can tell you that the 1.6 Tdi SE (105 PS) is as good as our old 110 engine in the 2002 1.9 tdi we own. The 90 BHP is the S model and I did not try that engine but went for the SE due to the extras included with the SE spec. It drives really weel and quiet too.
