Rear Wiper does not work

Hello

My rear wiper has just stopped working. The washer sprays water but the wiper arm does not move. I suppose it could be the wiper motor or the stalk switch. How do I tell which is the one at fault? I have checked the fuses and they seem OK. I have looked on the forum and most posts seem to be about the washer not working or leaking rather than the wiper.

it probably the motor
at some time in the cars life the washer has come off and filled the motor with water

Many thanks for your reply. I have now found the source of the problem - a broken brown wire on the left hand side of the rear hatch door. - I have mended it and the wiper motor is now fine. Well worth checking the wiring before buying a new motor or stalk.

I just wish I had found it before ripping off the plastic panel covering the wiper motor - such a hassle getting it back into place!!!
