Hi, I'm using VAGCOM for the first time to try and diagnose a fault, any advice would be much appreciated!

The car has little power below 3000 rpm and jolts (kangaroos) on slight throttle openings at low revs.

I first of all suspected the throttle body as it usually happens at similar throttle openings. However, I have cleaned it and adapted it and VAGCOM says the adaptation was ok (although the throttle only seems to open a little when it is adapting - it is drive by cable, is this correct or should it move to wide open?)

I am now turning my attention to the MAF. It too has been cleaned with the correct alcohol, although it didn't seem too dirty. The procedure I have for checking the MAF is to use VAGCOM to measure the airflow at full throttle and it should be 80% of the car's horsepower. The car is 125 hp and the airflow I can get is in the high 90s @ 6000 rpm.

I also tried running the car with the MAF disconnected. It felt exactly the same - not too sure what this proves!

I have also had a look at the vacuum hoses. Some were perished and have been replaced although it is possible that I could have missed one as some are awkward to access.

The car was showing no fault codes until my 6000 rpm run! Now it shows 00561 15-00. Which seems to indicate a MAF fault or a vacuum leak???

Can I use VAGCOM (or any other method) to narrow this down?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
